SOS - Save Our Sports club

posted 30 Jan 2016, 05:22 by mike corley

York RI gymnasium is under threat from the York central development (https://www.york.gov.uk/info/20048/major_developments/1019/york_central). We can support keeping the facilities by responding to a questionnaire - it only takes 5 minutes and you have until Monday February 15th to respond.

1) Go to www.york.gov.uk/consultations and click "York Central survey".
2) Fill out the questionnaire and in question 6 ("are there any buildings which should be retained?"), please write "York RI gymnasium".
3) In the final question ("any other comments?"), please comment on how you value York RI gymnasium as a city centre community sports facility.

The more individual responses that are received, the stronger the case is for keeping the facilities. Please forward this onto anyone else in favour of keeping York RI gymnasium.

Thank you

major redevelopment of ‘York Central’

posted 15 Jan 2016, 16:40 by mike corley

Hi All
Please circulate to all members/users.
Meeting for members and users: 7.30pm, Thursday 28th January, Main Hall on First Floor  at York RI Queen Street.
About the Meeting:
·         There is a prior booking in the Hall until 7.00pm – Please respect that booking by not entering the first floor of Queen Street building until 7.15pm.
·         Evening Car Parking at Queen Street is challenging, particularly on Thursdays, please consider this in your transport plans and if necessary park elsewhere such as at Nunnery Lane.
·         In order to get an indication of attendance we would appreciate it if you register for the meeting by following the Event Brite lInk below – It is an open meeting and membership cards / tickets wil not be checked.
Plans have been announced for major redevelopment of ‘York Central’ - the area surrounding the railway station, including York RI’s Queen Street site.
The proposals will have a serious impact on York RI Queen Street and the facilities we provide here for York residents.
Public consultation on the York Central development will start on the 18th January. Before we give our considered response we would like the personal views of people who use the facilities.
An open meeting for all YRI members and users will be held in the Main Hall at Queen Street at 7.30pm on Thursday 28th January. This meeting will be used to share information about the likely impact of the York Central development and to consider the options and implications.  York RI will then submit a formal response to the consultation.  If you wish to make your contribution to this matter but are unable to attend the meeting please contact: Colin Weir – General Manager York RI  - info@yorkri.org.uk
Please show your interest and concerns about the future of the Queen Street facilities by attending the meeting, and then submitting your personal response to the consultation by 15th February. It is important that as many people as possible take part, to make your views known and influence the outcome of the consultation.
Further information on York Central can be found at https://www.york.gov.uk/yorkcentral.
