Welcome to Developmental Neurobiology Laboratory at Yonsei University (PI: Hosung Jung 정호성).

We want to understand how complex structures such as our brain develop from a single fertilized egg.

Specifically, we are studying

(1) how different neurons are born and move to their proper positions during development,

(2) how they make long-distance connections (via axons) with each other to form neural circuits, and

(3) how these connections are maintained throughout our life

using two vertebrate models, frog tadpoles (Xenopus tropicalis) and mouse embryos,

which have their own unique experimental and biological advantages.

We are also interested in modeling human neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases in these animals to understand how these diseases occur and can be treated.
