Welcome to Developmental Neurobiology Laboratory at Yonsei University College of Medicine (PI: Hosung Jung 정호성)!
Our research focuses on understanding how complex structures such as the brain develop from a single fertilized egg.
Specifically, we investigate
1. How different neurons are born and migrate to their correct positions during development,
2. How they establish long-distance connections (via axons), and
3. How these connections are maintained throughout life.
To address these questions, we use two vertebrate models: frog tadpoles (Xenopus tropicalis) and mouse embryos, each offering unique experimental and biological advantages. We are also interested in modeling human neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases in these animals to better understand the mechanisms underlying these conditions and potential treatment approaches.
Thank you for your interest in our work!
