The 2015-2016 school year is my 15th year teaching at CJHS. This year I will be teaching all 8th grade social studies (U.S. History). I also have experience teaching world geography, reading, language arts, life science, math, and computers.
I am the Geography Bee and History Bee sponsor for the school. This year will be my 14th year directing the school play. I have previous experience with student council and as the spelling bee sponsor. You may also see me around school scorekeeping or timing events like basketball, wrestling, or scholastic bowl as well as sometimes playing with the pep band. .
Professionally, I received my BA in Elementary Education from Lewis University (2001) and my M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University (2011). I have been on the school's leadership team, crisis response team, and the district's technology committee.
In my limited free time I enjoy reading, music, movies, theater, food, watching sports, and traveling. Recently, I've been trying to improve my fitness with a running interval program and participating in more 5k's to challenge myself. Formerly, I worked as a teacher leader for People to People, where I have been fortunate enough to work with students aged 10-18 over the summers on different programs. Some of the programs included working with both US and international students on Leadership programs at Harvard, DC, NYC, and Philadelphia; a Film & Arts program at UCLA where we were able to make short films on the backlots of Universal Studios; and traveling internationally with local students to places around Europe (4 times) and Australia (once). I am also a self-proclaimed geek, and I love going to Comic-Cons! My 'just for fun' goal is to collect bobbleheads of every president, and other random sci-fi stuff (my lightsaber is green). I also collect pins of the places I've traveled.
I'm looking forward to another fantastic school year!
