Ballincollig PAKT Summer Scheme a great success!

11 kids spent an exciting and eventful week in Ballincollig Summer Scheme 2010. All the activities were focused this year on a theme "We Are Family". Kids enjoyed being outside, doing arts & crafts, cooking and making up drama pieces, which were presented on the Big Family Event. With help from the staff the kids took responsibility of organising the Family event themselves. They started with gathering ideas, went through planning & sharing tasks to holding Barbecue Party for their families. As a part of a party the group presented the work they have been doing during the week. The highlight was the Volcano presentation. Older boys made up a volcano and let it explode in front of 35 people. We didn't have any injuries, all safe! Well Done to all staff helping out: Theresa, Maria and Dolores! Thank you guys!

Ballincollig PAKT & PAKT+ groups are celebrating International Children's Day. This day is widely celebrated on the 1st of June. Children's Day had its origin in the World Conference for the Wellbeing of Children in Geneva in 1925. This week we'll be focusing on Children's Rights and United Nations Convention on  the Rights of the Child. The kids will have chance to build familiarity with the convention, to learn about their own rights and about their responsibility to respect the rights of others. We'll highlight ideas of respect, fairness, justice & equality.
