Legion of the Good Will
 

Art work Exhibition “Making the Difference”

 

Art is also an important mean for consciousness and dissemination of the Eight Millennium Development Goals. Attending the invitation of the Legion of Good Will, several distinguished Brazilian artists got together in the mobile exhibition named “Making the Difference”. Art works were conceived with the intention of sensitizing people around the world for taking action in order to overcome the most urgent global challenges. Here is exposed three pieces of the art collection.

 

Title:  Love – The beginning of Life (MDG #1)

Art form and Artist:  Acrylic over canvas by Hermínia Metzler

Description: 

It’s a four predominant color that transport us to the past, present and future: in black, there is an absolute passiveness, where death is concluded. The beginning of life is in red to suggest a symbol of alerting. The yellow expresses the color of fertile earth, of abundance, of the wheat to banish with hunger. And white is the renaissance that join Man to the universe and where he search for love.

About the Artist:  

Hermínia Metzler, from  Rio Grande do Sul, was born in Pelotas. She lives and works in Brasilia since 1978. Teacher of drawing and painting, she participatted in 8 individual art exhibition and more than 60 collective exhibitions. Title:  Quality Education for All (MDG #2)

 

Art form and Artist:  Acrylic over canvas by Adauto Pereira

Description: 

Combination of colors and lines demonstrate the path for learning through the basic global teachings. The transmutation of the shadow to light means wisdom. The bright yellow going to the white reveals the shining of the lightness and knowledge. The lines represent the constant exercise of the knowledge and the infinite.

About the Artist:

 

Adauto Pereira was catalogued as professional visual artist with the number 083 by the State and Culture Secretariat  and aditionally he is an art instructor.  In 1977 he participated in his first exhibition – 1st Display of visual arts of Taguatinga. Title:  Everybody working for the Development (MDG #8)

 

 

Art form and Artist:  Acrylic over canvas by Nazaré Martins

 

Description:  

 

Everybody mentions about overcoming social problems, but the artist poses a question: How to make poor countries to live decently with so many debts? It is necessary to work for the forgiveness, between rich and poor. She depictures in her art work the human figure, embracing the earth globe, inviting everybody to work. More challenges, access to labor market and technology, finally better days but now free of debts, floating as our Planet Earth.

 About the Artist:

 

Nazaré Martins was born on october 18 of 1944 in Carnaubal-CE. She participated of several courses. She realized 09 individual art exhibition and participated of 55 collective exhibition in Brazil and abroad, art display rooms in Brasilia and other states.
