Plushbot

We designed and developed Plushbot as a web application as well as a DIY activity that allows children or hobbyists to create their own plush toys and stuffed animals, and to include computational enhancements within the toys that they create. Thus, Plushbot represents a step toward expanding children's creative design of their own interactive, computationally-enhanced characters. We believe children learn effectively by making their personally meaningful artifacts.

We designed Plushbot software which provides web-based interfaces (www.plushbot.com) for users to integrate plush toy patterns with Lilypad Arduino as well as circuitry design. The impacts of this project on the physical computing community include:
  • introducing software as reflection space for DIY (Do-It-Yourself) users to pursue designs
  • the 1st webapp for E-Textil design with LilyPad Arduino
  • the simple version of circuitry design tool for children (compared to Fritzing and Eagle)
