Youhua's research background lies at the interface between surface engineering and thermofluidics (interfacial phenomena) and Youhua's career goal is to address problems related with water, environment, and energy. Youhua are investigating how surface properties affect the phenomena related to (1) fluid dynamics, (2) phase-change heat transfer, and (3) physical chemistry. In particular, Youhua are studying (1) the impact, rebound, slide, coalescence, and jump of droplets at microscopic (aerosols) and millimetric scale, (2) evaporation, condensation, freezing, melting, and boiling, and (3) manipulation of droplets and self-assembly of nano/micro-materials on plane and cylindrical surfaces.
In short, Youhua's research uniqueness and career goal can be summarized as multiscale droplet-surface interaction for water, environment, and energy.
Youhua has rich experience of conducting projects funded by National Science Foundation (NSF), Office of Naval Research (ONR), and American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund (ACS PRF). Youhua also has rich teaching experience in Thermodynamics, Fluid dynamics, Heat transfer, and Surface engineering.
Youhua has authored and coauthored more than 16 journal articles in Advanced Functional Materials, ACS Applied Material & Interface, Langmuir, Applied Physics Letters, JCIS, and Soft Matter. Youhua also served as reviewers for over 18 journals.
