"Being evicted!!!"
I am an urban ethnographer interested in understanding how the intensifying commodification of city space is becoming both an enduring source of inequality as well as a venue for cross-class, cross-sector resistance formation.

My current work conducts comparative historical and ethnographic research to examine how, in South Korea, an old problem of inequality exacerbated by gentrification is being tackled by new agents of social change: tenant shopkeepers.

I examine the
alternative visions of urban citizenship to resist against the seemingly irreversible trend of gentrification in the hyper-commodified city of Seoul.
