"Being evicted!!!"
I am an sociologist and urban ethnographer interested in social movements, precarity, and global markets.

My current work reveals how the lack of ownership rights to urban space becomes a source of enduring inequality. I focus on South Korean shopkeepers who are facing eviction and their organizing activities.

I ask: When precarity becomes a condition lived by a wider and more socio-economically diverse range of people, can the base of a resistance broaden to include a wider range of actors and bridge various claims and identities? I examine the challenges and potential of such organizing through ethnographic and historical research.
