Artwork by Nytae Lane, Rosa Goicoechea, Gustavo Crist, Tiffany Zoe, Melody Aleman

June 9 - July 3, 2010
Reception: June 18, 2010 from 6-9pm

Over the last five months, five students at Danzante Community Art Center have worked together on a project to learn photography as a means of communicating their thoughts on the environment and the city of Harrisburg. Nytae Lane, Rosa Goicoechea, Gustavo Crist, Tiffany Zoe, and Melody Aleman have taken part in the Eco Arts Initiative studying under photographer Matthew Murray to learn about photography techniques, social commentary, the environment, and activism on a local scale involving everything from litter removal projects to community gardening. The result is a project they have put together that examines not only their techniques with their cameras, but how their own influence can bring about a positive or negative change in the world depending on the choices they make. These peer leaders will share their stories of how they see the community around them and their hopes for the future in their writing and photos at the Yellow Wall Gallery at the Midtown Scholar Bookstore from June 9 - July 3, 2010 with an artists reception on June 18, 2010 from 6-9pm.
