I am Chair of the Department of International Studies & Modern Languages, Director of the Master of Diplomacy & Strategic Affairs Program, Assistant Coordinator of the Taiwan & East Asia Studies Program, and Associate Professor of International Studies at the University of St. Thomas.

I am currently serving as President of the Taiwanese Heritage Society of Houston, President of the North America Taiwanese Professors’ Association -- Texas Chapter, Board Member of the American Association for Chinese Studies, Treasurer of Conference Group on Taiwan Studies (CGOTS) at the American Political Science Association, Book Review Editor of American Journal of Chinese Studies, and Editorial Board Member for East Asia Quarterly. I am also the co-founder of the Taiwan Policy Initiative (TPI).

I received my Ph.D. in Political Science from Texas A&M University and a B.A. in Political Science from National Taiwan University.

My research focuses on public opinion, foreign policy, international security, US-China-Taiwan relations, East Asian politics, terrorism and political violence, and quantitative methods. My teaching interests include international studies, comparative politics, and research methods.
