The choir was founded in 1988 by Elizabeth Maile and quickly increased to 20 members. Since then it continues to grow, today the evening choir has roughly 70 members. We are non auditioned choirs and members do not have to sight-read to join. However, as most songs are in four parts (soprano, alto, tenor and bass), it is important that members are able to hold a part. A committee of volunteers manages the choirs and a fee is charged each term to cover the hire of the rehearsal venue and the cost of the music.

Our music covers a wide range: from contemporary, popular, musical comedy, ballads and folk music to opera, classical and sacred choral music.

Commencing on Tuesday March 6th 2018 will see the debut of our new Daytime Choir at Montrose Town Centre from 10am to 12 noon.                                              This new initiative will be under the encouraging direction of Belinda Gillam Derry, who has achieved a high standard with the Evening Choir.                                                                     Supported by the talented Raymond Shon on keyboard, fun times are ahead and joint Concerts with the Evening Choir are envisaged.
