The YTR-83 is a Japanese only "Custom" series model. It includes the following models:
YTR-83
YTR-83 Atelier Tune
YTR-83M
YTR-83M Atelier Tune
YTR-83M II
YTR-83X
YTR-83X Atelier Tune
YTR-83X(SP)
“Custom” Series YTR-83
These models seem to have been developed alongside the Bobby Shew YTR-6310Z range. They appear to have been originally commissioned as a special model for sale through the Japanese music store Yamano Gakki and have now gained a cult following in the Japanese market. Whilst the 6310Z was considered a “Professional” series trumpet, the YTR-83 series was constructed as a “Custom” series instrument. They are also considered the development ground for the current YTR-8340EM Eric Miyashiro model.
The specs suggest they are a “M” Medium Bore although it is unknown if they are actually a step/multi bore design. They have a large lightweight 1 piece yellow brass bell with gold brass leadpipes. The standard 83X model varies from the standard model in that the bell is a lightweight bell based upon the Xeno bell design. The 83M bell is a super light one similar to that used on the current 8340M Miyashiro model.
Further developing the range are the “Atelier Tune” instruments. These are modified from the original specifications to include:
Rounded Tuning Slide
Brass Valve Stems
Reverse construction 2nd Valve Slide
Ring finger Hooks at all contact points
Interchangeable Mouthpiece Receiver Weights
Soldered Slide Tabs (as opposed to brazed)
The dates when these trumpets were introduced is somewhat uncertain.
Some are still available through Yamano Gakki music shop in Japan
Cheers
