August 14, 2010 8:00am Start – 25K Race
The course is a 12.5KM lollipop loop course.
Here is a brief description: The race will start at the picnic shelter (PS) located off of Weldon Road. It is after the RV campground on the left hand side of the road. The race itself will start in a open area of the park and run on a double wide trail (similar to an old fire road) for over 1/2 mile to thin the pack. The trail will then get a little rocky with a few wet spots (NO stream crossings). This is then where the course alternates between single and double track until the 3.8mile mark. For the next 2.2 miles, the course follows a rail trail. There will be an aid station half way down the rail trail. The course then transitions to alternating single and double track going over rolling hills up over the highest point in Morris County then back to the Start/Finish. The trail down from the Highest Point is groomed quite nicely and very run able. If you look at the trail map for Mahlon Dickerson Reservation, the course is essentially the Pine Swamp Loop with 2.2 miles of the Ogden Rail trail connected by an unnamed section.
YELLOW out to the Aid Station, BLUE back to the start finish area.
Check in begins 5:30am for the 50K, 75K and 100K and 7:00am for the 25K
Parking is very limited. Please give yourself plenty of time on race day if you need to use the Snow Bowl as over flow parking. The lot is over 1/2 mile away on a steep downhill.
