I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the Department of Electrical Engineering & Electronics, University of Liverpool, Liverpool, UK. Prior to Liverpool, I have been with Technische Universität Berlin, Germany, EURECOM, France, and Huawei Technologies, China. I got my PhD degree from Télécom Paris (now Institut Polytechnique de Paris), M.E. from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), and B.E. from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), China.


In general, my research expertise lies in information theory, communications, and machine learning. My research focus is to apply various mathematical tools to solve engineering problems in wireless communications and artificial intelligence trustworthiness. In particular, I am currently looking into the following problems:

  • Information Theory and Machine Learning for 6G Wireless Communication Networks

    • Theoretical foundations of robustness for highly-dynamic distributed MIMO networks, with focus on the interplay between communiations (network information theory), computing (dynamic graph algorithms), and learning (adversarial graph learning).

    • Optimization and machine learning for 5G/6G wireless communications, with focus on TDD/FDD and cell-free massive MIMO systems.

  • AI Safety and Trustworthiness for Deep Learning

    • Reliability (generalization) and security (adversarial robustness) of deep learning models, with focus on regularization/generalization, adversarial robustness, and spectral methods.

    • Graph representation learning, with focus on the fundamentals (e.g., expressivity, robustness, generalization) of graph neural networks, graph adversarial learning, and graph neural networks for combinatorial optimization.
