I am an experimental rock mechanist, and currently a research specialist at the John W. Handin Laboratory for experimental rock deformation in the School of Geology and Geophysics at Texas A&M University.
My education bridges both Engineering and Science. I received my Ph.D degree in Geology from the University of Oklahoma, B.S. degree in Material Sciences from Fudan University, and M.E. degree in Material Engineering from the Institute of Semiconductors Chinese Academy of Sciences.
My research is on multi-scale rock deformation, including dynamic faulting and chemically assisted fracturing mechanics with applications to earthquake physics, subsurface energy recovery, carbon sequestration, and surface erosion. My research relates rock mechanics to fluid-rock interactions, and utilizes modern microscopy techniques to explore the mechanisms of faulting and fracturing across the scales from the field down to nano-scale.
