Alan Osborne says he will contest the claims made by Robert Nelson and being looked into by the Florida Elections Commission. Osborne says he is not ready to issue a statement about the case due to not having yet received the letter dated September 21st. He does say, based on what was sent to him earlier, that he disagrees with the claims and will ask for the case to be investigated.
The Elections Commission is giving Osborne a choice to pay a small fine and neither admit or deny guilt since this is the first time the possible offense has been considered. A complaint was filed by former Walton Commission District 1 candidate Robert Nelson about a packet with political statements handed out just before the August 14th Elections. The packet did not have a political disclaimer.
The Elections Commission says the case has not been investigated, but they will proceeded if the smaller fine is not paid. Osborne says he will allow the case to proceed to the probable cause hearing. Osborne also says he will waive confidentiality.
