FRIDAY 24 JANUARY, 7.30pm - Dylan
Hedgehog Aware
Venue: Assembly Rooms, St Briavels
Hedgehog Aware came about after Dylan discovered hedgehogs in his garden during the Summer 2020 lockdown. He was 13 years old at the time. Since then, he has learnt all he can about one of the UK’s most loved mammals – the Erinaceous Europeas – and done as much as he can to help them not only survive, but thrive.
His talks tend to last around 45 mins to 1 hour with time included for questions. He'll bring along lots of information and free leaflets about helping hedgehogs, as well as a model hedgehog house, wildlife cameras and rescue kit which people can look at. Hedgehog footage and information slides will also be displayed throughout.

FRIDAY, 17 OCTOBER, 7.30pm - Clive Stainton
'Sustainable Gardening
Venue: Mackenzie Hall. Brockweir
When Professor Clive and wife Marion bought a rundown farmhouse in Herefordshire, they knew as they developed the hectare of garden, they would want to make it as environmentally sustainable as it was possible to do. Clive takes you through the work and the successes, the trials and the failures. He works through water storage on a grand scale, being self-sufficient in electricity production (wind and Sun), least co2 emitting machinery, minimising the use of chemicals, tree planting and more. Clive tells an illustrated story of aspiration and disappointment, cooperation and struggle alone, encounters with footpath officers and other wildlife. The first five years were full of realisation, and the following ten years of gratification.
