The classic story of the contest between the North Wind and the Sun, in Tseeyo.

"Mr. Sun said, "Hmph! No, I'm stronger than you."

 

miɛ́, ówɛnɔ kpelio hun, ḿbɔma baneŋ ti ókɔ gɛ́.

then NM.person walk.about.NC come, NM.tunic big.NC at NM.back in.

"Then a traveling person came, a long tunic on his back."

 

ba huɛ banle ná ba pal timi tiɛl, wɛnɔ-wɛnɔ sɔʦi ókpaasa, u cuuwi ḿbɔma ti ópu gɛ́.

Mr. wind big and Mr. sun say same, somebody have NM.strength, he remove.CAUS NM.tunic at NM.man in.

"Mr. Big Wind and Mr. Sun agreed that the strongest one could make the man take off his tunic."

Mr Big Wind blew and blew, but the traveling person held on tight to his tunic.

Mr sun make IDPH(very bright light) and NM.heat take NM.person walk.about.NC IDPH(extremely hot)

Mr Sun shone brightly and the traveller got very hot.

Then the traveller took off his tunic.

 

ɛ, ŋá hiŋ, ba pal yoŋ ókpaasa.

so they lay.down, Mr sun pass NM.strength

So they judged that Mr Sun was the strongest.
