Proposed Laboratory : Human Ergonomics, Assistive and Haptic Lab (HEAHL) at MANIT Bhopal : My team is working on development of assistive techniques to see the different human capability, limitations and biomechanical analysis of human interaction. We at HEAHL are trying to develop the cognitive aspect of various human factors and behaviors. The focus areas are AR/VR/AI/Robotics.
DST-SERB Ongoing Project :
I am supervising two project of total 52 lakhs, one is sponsored by SERB-DST, Govt. Of India as PI for project entitled "Development of Computational model for bipedal walking trajectories generation and analysis of different gait abnormality" with file number" with file no. ECR/2018/000203 " . (2019-2022) of 25 lakhs and another project "Development of Heterogeneous computing model for post-injury walking pattern restoration and postural stability: Cognitive Robotics approach" of 32 Lakh funded by HEFA under CSR Grant schema ( Ministry of Education) (2021-2024).
Regarding Ph.D. position opening: For the coming next semester, I am looking for a good candidate for Ph.D. at MANIT Bhopal in the following domain areas: Human gait analysis and robot walk, Human Activity recognition, Human Hand Moment analysis using EMG sensor, Wearable sensor based computing. Computer Vision / wearable sensor based person tracking and positioning with small microcontroller like Arduino Nano 33 BLE sense etc. using TinyML and Deep Learning. Python and hardware programming is required. One can mail me on this mail ID- vsemwal@gmail.com, along CV and SOP. The good SCI publication record is desirable if any.
Ph.D Thesis: Data Driven Computational Model for Bipedal Walking and Push Recovery
In this research, we have developed the data driven computational walking model to overcome the problem with traditional kinematics based model. Our model is adaptable and can adjust the parameter morphological similar to human. The human walk is a combination of different discrete sub-phases with their continuous dynamics. Any system which exhibits the discrete switching logic and continuous dynamics can be represented using a hybrid system .
