Dr. Vijay Bhaskar Semwal is working as an Assistant Professor Grade-1 in the Deparmet of Computer Science and Engineering, Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal (MANIT Bhopal) since Feb 2019. He has also worked with NIT Rourkela, IIIT Dharwad, and NIT Jamshedpur as an Assistant Professor before joining NIT Bhopal. He has more than 10 years of teaching & research experience. He has earned his doctorate in Robotics & AI from IIIT Allahabad, Prayagraj, in the year 2017, an M.Tech. in Wireless Communication and Computing from IIIT Allahabad in 2010; and B.Tech. (IT) from College of Engineering Roorkee, Uttarakhand (2008). His research includes human-robot interaction, IoT, wearable sensor-based health monitoring systems, bipedal robotics, gait analysis and synthesis, artificial intelligence, algorithm perspective of machine learning, and theoretical computer science. He has published more than 100 research papers in SCOPUS/SCI-indexed journals and international conferences. He is an active reviewer of many Elsevier, IEEE and Springer journals/conferences. He has been awarded the Early Career Research Award /Grant (ECRA) of 25 lakhs by DST-SERB, Government of India, in 2019. He is also a senior member of IEEE, International Association of Engineers (IAENG), Indian Academy of Neuroscience (IAN), and the Soft Computing Research Society (SCRS) professional bodies. He has completed 03 research projects of 50 lakhs, funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Govt. of India; competitive research of Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP-III) by Uttarakhand Technical University Dehradoon, and SEED Grant by MANIT Bhopal. He has delivered more than 150 invited/expert talks on various platforms. He has supervised 5 research scholars and currently he is supervising 7 Ph.D scholars. He is currently supervising three externally funded projects worth over ₹50 lakhs, sponsored by HEFA (Ministry of Education) and MPCST, Government of Madhya Pradesh. He has delivered more than 150 invited and expert talks on various platforms. His international exposure includes visits to Japan, Singapore, Tunisia, Malaysia, South Korea, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and Nepal to present his research work and engage in international collaborations. He has successfully supervised five Ph.D. scholars and is presently guiding seven more. With a rich blend of skills, experience, and expertise, he is a well-established academic and researcher, recognized with awards from various reputed government bodies. A passionate mentor to young researchers, he works across a wide span of research domains, including cutting-edge areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, immersive technologies, and computer science-related applications. His career reflects vast and diverse experience in both academia and industry.
