Hello Pack 100 Families,

On behalf of the Pack Committee, we hope you have had a great summer! As we prepare to move into the new school year, we wanted to ask that each of you consider the following ways you can help continue to make Pack 100 the great Pack it has been for the past 50+ years! Our events can only continue if someone steps up to lead them.

The following positions are activities/positions that are being held by those in the Webelos 1 den – who crossover in February. They would LOVE to share our experiences and knowledge with you while they are still here.  As you know by now, the Pack can only go with volunteers leading us. With everyone taking a small piece it is very manageable – and your scout loves seeing you involved! Speaking personally, you will get so much more out of scouts than you put in it.

Thank you to Jane H. and Lori S. who will be taking over Advancements.

Thank you also to Jacquie W. for being our Religious Emblems Coordinator! She will present this to our Pack annually.

 ·        Ashton Elementary Contact – Works with Cubmaster and Mr. Renouf in promoting scouting at Ashton Elementary including Scout Night, Kindergarten Bike Rally, Flag Ceremonies, sending flyers home to kindergarten boys at year-end and other events that may come up throughout the year. Nancy Vafeas will introduce you and help you throughout this next year!

·        Scouting for Food – Coordinate our efforts with dropping off bags and picking them up. I have EVERYTHING you need to get you started. I will help you this year!! Easy, traditional Scouting service project!

·        Pinewood Derby – Coordinate a committee for this time-honored scouting day of racing! Again, our experienced leaders will walk you through the whole process.

·        Raingutter Regatta – Coordinate this fun-filled day. Nancy V. will be your contact due to her relationship with the Sarasota Sailing Squadron.

·        Outings Chair (Pack Committee Position) – A fun, but big job! You are responsible (along with input from Pack Committee) for our fun pack outings (camping, hikes, etc). Robin M. will train you!

·        Popcorn Kernel – Coordinate our popcorn fundraising efforts. Mike M. can teach you all you need to know about this position. Without funds the Pack cannot afford important things like repairs to the trailer, patches and awards. Traditionally the Pack has paid for registration fees for adult leaders. Popcorn sales is our one and only fund raiser for the year. We must be successful. Popcorn Kernel training is August 23rd.

·        Treasurer (Pack Committee Position) – Makes deposits, write checks, reconciles and manages our Pack checking account. Mike M. will teach you how!

Committee Chair (Pack Committee Position) - Calling and presiding Pack Leader meetings, assist Cubmaster and committee to plan and carry out the Cub Scout program in the Pack.

Last, but not least, I am looking for a stellar individual to take over as Cubmaster. I have held the position for 2 1/2 years and I feel that it is time to hand over the reigns. I have been invited to provide my services at the District Level in adult leader training and to serve as staff for Wood Badge. The time commitment will keep me from giving the necessary attention to the program that the boys deserve.

Pack Committee Positions are voting positions and you would attend Pack Committee Meetings on the 2nd Thursday of every month at STM. Our first Committee meeting of the year will be next Thursday, August 14th, at 6:30pm in the Spirit Center at St. Thomas More. I invite ALL parents to attend this meeting as our committee will be planning the calendar for this year and we can answer any questions about the various positions.

Hello Pack 100 families!

It was nice to see everyone at bowling tonight. Thank you to NancyV for coordinating the event. And thank you to RachaelW for the awesome cake!
This Saturday, May 17th, is Crossover at Camp Flying Eagle. 16009 Upper Manatee River Road, Bradenton. The whole family is invited.
We will start at 4 PM with fun and games. Dinner is at 6 PM and a special ceremony at 7:30 PM.
I need a head count so we can buy groceries. Cost of dinner is $2 per person. We will be offering burgers and hot dogs. Let me know how many are coming and whether you'd like a burger or hot dog.
If you have a fun, outdoor game you would like to share please bring it. So far, we have families bringing corn hole (a.k.a bean bag toss), frisbee golf and ladder toss.
Scouts wear your class B uniform to play in and bring your class A to wear to the ceremony.
