2016 Softball Challenge

Saturday, April 23 provided a perfect evening for the 7th Annual Police vs Fire Softball Challenge.  A special thanks to the Grapevine Police and Fire Honor Guard for posting the colors, Peyton Lain for singing the national anthem for the seventh year, Mary Molini from St Francis Catholic Church Outreach Ministry who threw out the 1st pitch, Chief Salame and Chief Brown for announcing and those who came out to support the teams especially all of the family’s with Mason Dental, the Police and Fire Departments.  After a hard fought battle, the Smoke Eaters won the game 11-4 but the big winner is the Grapevine Shield Foundation.  Due to the great support from our sponsors, donors, team players, and spectators the fundraising event was a big success.


2015 Softball Challenge
The 6th Annual Police vs Fire Softball Challenge was held on Saturday, April 11 at Oak Grove Park.  The Watchmen  and the Smoker Eaters were ready to play, giving us a close and exciting game, with the Smokers Eaters taking home the trophy.  Police Chief Eddie Salame and Fire Chief Darrell Brown provided the game commentary. Many thanks to all who came out and support this event, as well as all of the businesses and service organization who continue to support us with their generous donations.

2014 Softball Challenge
The 5th Annual Police vs Fire Softball Challenge was held on Saturday, April 19 at Oak Grove Park.  Police Chief Eddie Salame and Fire Chief Steve Bass provided the game commentary.  The Watchmen from the GPD were victorious, taking home the trophy and bragging rights this year. The Grapevine Shield Foundation greatly appreciates the time and efforts of all of the members of the police and fire departments, as well as Parks & Recreation to make this event successful.  We also appreciate the support we get from all the other departments around the city and city hall!  The support of the businesses and service organizations who made generous donations to our event enable us to continue the event every year.  Special thanks to St. Francis Outreach Center who continues to be a generous donor every year. We also appreciate the volunteers who help to put the event on each year and the members of the public who attend and support us.  The VIPS, CPA and CFA are always big supporters.

 2013 Softball Challenge
the 4th Annual Police vs Fire Softball Challenge was held on Saturday, April 13 at Oak Grove Park.  The Smoke Eaters from the GFD were victorious again this year.  The support of the businesses and service organizations who made generous donations to our event enable us to continue the event every year.  Special thanks to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary who made a very generous donation and St. Francis Outreach Center who has been a generous donor every year.

 2012 Softball Challenge
was held on Saturday, April 21, at Oak Grove Park Baseball complex, field B.  This competition between the Police Watchmen and the Fire Smoke Eaters started with a home run hitting contest, followed by the softball challenge.  The Smoke Eaters won the game and trophy in a hard hitting battle.  Thanks to local service organizations and businesses whose donations helped to make this a successful event.

Chill Halloween Celebration
with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Grapevine Shield Foundation was held on October 31, 2011.  This will be an annual event so make your plans to attend, have a great time and help the Shield Foundation.

2011 Softball Challenge
between the Grapevine Police Dept. team, the Watchmen and the Fire Dept. team, the Smoke Eaters was held on April 30, 2011.  The Smoke eaters won the game and trophy in a hard hitting battle.  Many local business helped to make this a successful event with their generous donations.

2011 Darrin Medlin Memorial Golf 
Tournament
was held on June 14 at Cowboys Golf Course in Grapevine.  A portion of the proceeds were donated to the Shield Foundation.

2010 Softball Challenge - Police vs Fire 
Department
The 1st Annual Grapevine Police vs Fire Softball Challenge was held on Saturday, July 17 at 6 pm at Oak Grove Park.  The heat was high, (close to 100 degrees) but the teams played hard.  The Police team emerged victorious over the Fire team but it was a fun day for all.  Thanks to all the local businesses who made donations to make this a successful event.
