This month's newsletter, written by Renee Liming:
New Year's Resolutions - This is the time of year that we are all making New Year's Resolutions. Have you written down your goals for the New Year? At the end of the year will you be able to look back and see if any of the goals were achieved?
Here's some food for thought: Dan Pearce, Single Dad Laughing says his 2015 New Year's Resolution is going to be 'living in the here and now.' It's going to be his year of being a friend instead of looking for friends, of strengthening relationships instead of waiting for others to strengthen them first.
What about a year of random acts of kindness? Send out note cards - just because, write a letter to your child on their birthday, send a love note to your spouse on your anniversary listing things you love about them (1 thing for each year that you've been married). Send a note to your father or mother on Father's Day or Mother's Day with lessons you learned from them. These are all things that could be on your New Year's Resolution list.
Writing Prompt: Let's reconsider our New Year's Resolutions for 2015. Write about something positive that we can do or have done for others - some positive way that we can each impact someone and change the world.
COMING UP: January 13, 2015 - Writer Panel - Inspiration for Your Writing Journey. Our WWCWG board members will share practical advice, insights from the publishing industry, and much more. If you would like to see a specific topic addressed, use the contact link to send us the topic ahead of time. The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in room 305 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.
FEEDBACK (CRITIQUE) OPPORTUNITY:
If you want to receive feedback on your work, come early (5:30 p.m.) to meet with others. Bring 6-8 copies of your short piece (300 words or so) for the group to read along as you share. You could bring what you have written in response to the prompt above, or something else you’re working on. It can be a portion of a book chapter, or a short article too.
See you at the January meeting!
