What is Psychology Club?

The West Virginia University Psychology Club is a student led organization that is open to any student who has an interest in Psychology. The organization gives students many opportunities to become active on and off campus. To join, please complete an application and submit $5 for the academic year. Applications can be found outside of our office (Room 1106 Life Sciences Building [LSB]). The application and money can be turned in at meetings, during office hours, or to the Psi Chi mailbox in the Department of Psychology main office in LSB room 1124.

By joining Psychology club you also become a member of H.E.L.P.  Suicide Prevention (Holding Every Life Precious). The goal of the program is to help prevent suicide, spread awareness, and promote healthy living. We hope that by incorporating H.E.L.P. into Psychology Club, students will be able to find something that fits their interests.

Being a member of Psychology Club/ H.E.L.P. has many advantages. The organization sponsors speakers and other activities to advance the professional development of its members. Opportunities are provided for for students to interact with faculty and other professional psychologists outside of the classroom through various social activities. We also organize social events, educational workshops, and service activities!

Founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, along with advancing the science of psychology. Psi Chi at West Virginia University was chartered in 1948 as the 60th chapter. Students who meet the class standing and GPA requirements are encouraged to apply for membership. There is a formal initiation ceremony annually. Benefits of membership include recognition of academic standing in psychology, professional affiliation, and a quarterly newsletter. Psi Chi works closely with the Psychology Club & H.E.L.P. to foster a scholarly approach to education at West Virginia University.
