Western Regional Honors Council Conference 2012
Between Earth and Sky: Imagining the Future
April 12-14, 2012
Albuquerque, New Mexico

New Mexico is an enchanted land where the line between earth and sky is often imperceptible. And it is here, too, that artists and scholars often find the line between "what is" and "what is not" equally ephemeral. Often times, it is a hazy distinction between what is and what is yet to be.

As such we welcome presenters, panelists, scholars, students, administrators, and faculty from across the Western Region to take part in the 2012 Western Regional Honors Council Conference hosted by the University Honors Program at the University of New Mexico. The conference theme, "Between Earth and Sky: Imagining the Future", was aptly chosen to represent New Mexico's unique situation between a range of extremes: ancient cultures and modern technological society, scarcity of resources and an abundance of biogeographic diversity, home of the space port (with flights departing the earth) alongside centers of ecological preservation and conservation.
