G1 Climax - 25 Surprising Competitors

posted Jun 20, 2018, 4:39 PM by Wrestling Scout
Since 1974, New Japan has held an annual tournament that has changed its name, the type of tournament it is and the reward for winning many times over the years.  In the 1970s and 1980s, the company brought a wide variety of foreign talent.  Some of them, like Andre the Giant, Tiger Jeet Singh and Stan Hansen, became iconic figures in Japan.  Others, like Killer Karl Krupp, Dick Murdoch and the Masked Superstar, achieved success in Japan that perhaps eclipsed their successes in North America.  There have also been a number of wrestlers who appeared in tournaments (sometimes more than once) and it is surprising, especially considering how star-studded the tournaments were in the 1990s and have been in recent years.
