April 9th is Name Yourself Day - Pro-wrestlers who legally changed their names

It is not all that unusual to change one's name, but in pro-wrestling it is sometimes done so one can own the rights to their name.  Perhaps the most famous example of this was Jim Hellwig who wrestled as the Ultimate Warrior for the WWF.  In 1993, he legally changed his name to "Warrior" and was able to     Warrior's memorable last appearance on the Raw after    use that name when he             Wrestlemania occurred just hours before his death.

and wrestled in WCW.  A number of pro-wrestlers had used this strategy when dealing with WWF, although it can be difficult if they did not use the name prior to their time in the company.  In more recent times, Ryback (Ryan Reeves) changed his name and Cody Rhodes (Cody Runnels) has avoided using the "Rhodes" surname to avoid legal issues with the WWE.
