McDonald Elementary School in Seattle is launching a new dual immersion program in Spanish and Japanese K/1 in Fall, 2011. In preparation, the school is collaborating with the Seattle Public Schools International Schools program, OSPI, and the Confucius Institute of the State of Washington to offer a 4-day Language Immersion Boot Camp for Educators in August. Seattle Schools would like to extend the invitation to attend the Boot Camp to other immersion programs in the state. The focus of the workshops will be on preparing to launch a new language immersion program, but the workshops would be valuable to current immersion teachers, as well.
