Modeling, Prediction, and Design for Complex Networks: A Multi-Disciplinary Perspective


Networks are pervasive in today's world, and they crisscross areas such as cyber-physical systems, medicine, and infrastructure.  These include power grid, and the internet, or processes and systems, such as supply chains and the brain. Such examples arise under both normal and emergency situations, those demanding different approaches and solutions required to ensure the robustness and adaptivity of these networks. In this workshop, we would like to introduce these issues while briefly surveying the state-of-the-art and presenting open problems and future challenges. The goal of this workshop is to equip the attendees with a set of analytical tools and methods to do modeling, analysis, prediction, and design of networks. These tools and methods have their origins in different fields, e.g., physics, engineering, and computer science. Thus, emphasizing the multidisciplinary nature of the research and applications. Finally, the ultimate goal of this workshop is to serve as an arena where researchers from multiple fields can spark collaborations on modeling, prediction, and design of complex networks.
