BSA Rules

Well keeping in the tradition of woodworking, remember to keep it simple.  The younger the boy, the shorter attention span and the knowledge of tool usage.  keep tools simple to using the basics like a hammer, screw drivers, ruler or measuring tape.

BSA says that cub scouts are NOT to use electrical power tools at any time.

They can use a battery drill as long as the parent is supervising the use with having one hand on the tool in case the the drill binds and kicks or spins it does not injure the scout.  NOTE: use a battery drill that has an adjustable chuck and set it to the lowest setting so that should it bind the clutch with slip and no one is injured.
