For the last 13 years, we have looked forward to hosting the Woodlawn Run for a Cause – welcoming nearly 3,000 runners and walkers, and raising more than $150,000 for local charities.  The race committee has always viewed it as a highlight of the year for us, and we are grateful that others in the Yonkers/Bronx communities have felt the same.  As we started planning this year’s race months ago, we were excited to run/walk together again this September – but 2020 had something different in store.

We hope you and your loved ones are safe and doing well during these unprecedented times. Knowing that the next few months are a bit unknown, our race committee has made the difficult but necessary decision to hold this year’s Woodlawn Run for a Cause virtually.  So please mark your calendar for Saturday, September 26 at 10 a.m. and join us for the 14th Annual Woodlawn Run – wherever you want to run or walk!  And if that date or time doesn’t work for you, we encourage you to participate at a more convenient time during that week.

This year, we will be raising money to benefit the Aisling Irish Community and Cultural Center, a local organization that strives to meet the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs or clients through counseling, senior programs, legal services, housing and employment support and more.  They have been supporting members of the community affected by COVID-19, especially those who have lost their job over the past few weeks.  This year’s event will be no frills with no shirts or prizes, but we do hope you consider making a donation to support this great cause if you can.

Again, this was a tough decision to come to this year, but one we felt we had to make for the good of our participants and the community.  Please plan to don your favorite Woodlawn Run for a Cause shirt this September, snap and share a photo of your run/walk, donate to a great cause and support an organization that is helping the community get through this difficult time.  Speaking of community, we are so very grateful for all of the tremendous support we have received from the community over the years.  We have listed all of the Silver, Gold and Platinum sponsors over the course of our 13 year history below.  Please be sure to pay a visit to these amazing organizations that have supported the Woodlawn Run, and say thanks to those individuals and families if you see them.

Thanks for your continued support, stay healthy and we’ll “see” you in September.
