WID is a Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA)

Like many other eligible municipalities and water agencies in our sub-basin, Woodbridge Irrigation District (WID) elected to establish itself as a Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) in 2016 as a response to the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) legislation, passed by the state legislature in 2014.

SGMA and its many implications will have potentially significant impacts for local and regional entities, particularly individual property owners. The WID Board of Directors is convinced that the best way for WID to support efforts to improve groundwater conditions in our sub-basin is to continue to focus efforts on delivering surface water to our customers and enhance in-lieu groundwater recharge efforts.

Per SGMA guidelines, WID is cooperating with the Eastern San Joaquin Groundwater Authority on a groundwater sustainability plan. WID may pursue additional sustainability plans and take action with it's municipal customers , Lodi and Stockton. All within its common geographical boundaries.

If you have any questions regarding the ongoing SGMA process, please feel free to call the WID office at (209) 625-8438 or the Eastern San Joaquin Groundwater Authority at (209) 468-3089 or
