Answers to Frequently Asked Questions 

Schedule

Q: What is the schedule on the day of the event?

A:  Schedule:

  • 6:15 PM: Volunteers arrange tables in all-purpose room 
  • 6:30 PM: Judge training in all-purpose room
  • 6:30-6:45 PM: Students arrive with posters and set them up
  • 6:45-7:45 PM: Judges will review all of the projects; students will present their projects orally to the judges & other attendees.  
  • 7:45-8:00 PM: Student recognition
  • 8:00-8:15 PM: Students pack up project boards and depart
  • 8:30-9:00 PM: Volunteers clean up

Q: How do I submit my project?

A: Students bring their project boards to the fair. If this presents a problem, please contact sciencefair@woodacresstem.org

Q: When is the PTA Science Fair?

A: February 1, 2017. 


Q: What is the goal of the PTA Science Fair?

A: To encourage the understanding and application of the scientific method.


Q: How do I register my student to participate in the The PTA Science Fair?

A: Complete the registration form 


Q: What is the cost to participate in the The PTA Science Fair?

A: There is no cost to participate.


Judging

Q: How will the student science fair projects be judged?

A: Student science fair projects will be judged according to the criteria that will be available on http://www.woodacresstem.org


Q: Will individual students be recognized?

A: Certificates will be presented after the judging. No rankings will be made.  The PTA Science Fair is a "do your best" activity rather than a "win or lose" activity.


Q: Who will judge the student projects for The PTA Science Fair?

A: Judges will be recruited from Wood Acres parents.  No parent will judge the project of their own child. 


Projects

Q: What are the guidelines for student projects for The PTA Science Fair?

A: No hazardous or messy materials or large live demonstrations are allowed at Radnor. 


Q: Are there differences between science fair projects for K-1 students, students in grades 2-3 and students in grades 4-5?

A: Yes, the themes and definitions of the science fair projects of varying grade levels for The PTA Science Fair will available on http://www.woodacresstem.org

Q: Are volunteers needed? 

A: Yes--for judging as well as setup/cleanup. Please register! Email sciencefair@woodacresstem.org if questions.
