Therapeutic Modalities

Individual psychotherapy is the therapeutic interaction or treatment contracted between a trained professional and a client.  It involves meeting with a therapist one-on-one for the purpose of reducing internal suffering which occurs in the form of problematic behaviors, beliefs, feelings, and somatic responses (sensations in the body). In addition, ongoing psychotherapy is a common and useful means of self-growth and self-actualization.

Therapy can help people to resolve barriers which interfere with positive qualities, such as joy, compassion, peace, self-esteem, spiritual connection, and love.         Many people enjoy therapy and relish the journey of becoming more conscious about themselves, their inner world, and their relationships.  Psychotherapy can be useful for many interpersonal and intrapersonal problems.  In general,   psychotherapy is a personal process of deeply listening to, learning from, and working with the protective or wounded parts of oneself. Becoming conscious of one’s inner world and caring for oneself helps a person to heal, change, and grow.

Coaching  can help us understand what we are truly good at and how we can use our abilities to strengthen organizational culture and address change. It provides in-depth solutions that no classroom or seminar can offer. In fact, no conventional form of learning has shown a comparable capability to help people make profound and difficult changes in the way they approach their work and their life, and to make those changes last

Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) is a technique that can be used to help people better understand the thoughts and feelings that lead to potentially problematic behaviors. CBT has a range of uses, but it can be particularly effective when treating phobias, anxiety, additions, and depression. One of the most appealing things about cognitive behavior therapy is that it is usually considered a short-term option that focuses on a very specific set of behaviors.

Emotional Freedom Technique EFT   a universal healing aid that rebalances the body’s energy system with respect to unresolved emotional issues. Energy meridians that run through our body can be blocked or disrupted by unresolved emotional issues, thereby compromising our natural healing potential. Realigning the energy meridians while focusing on an unresolved emotional issue can often provide increased personal peace and relief from many physical symptoms.  Although based on the principles of acupuncture, EFT has simplified the realignment process by gently tapping on key meridian points on the head, torso and hands. Traditional acupuncture needles are not necessary in this process, and it can be learned and applied by anyone.

Family Systems Therapy. In family Systems therapists view problems within the family as the result not of particular members' behaviors, but of the family's group dynamic. The family is seen as a complex system having its own language, roles, rules, beliefs, needs and patterns. The therapist helps each individual member understand how their childhood family operated, their role in that system, and how that experience has shaped their role in the current family. Therapists with the MFT credential are usually trained in Family Systems therapy.

Psychodynamic therapy is the systematic study and theory of the psychological forces that underlie human behavior, particularly the dynamic relations between unconscious and conscious motivation. Psychodynamic therapies depend on a theory of inner conflict, wherein repressed emotions surface and behaviors into the client’s consciousness; commonly, one conflict is subconscious.

Solution Focused  Brief Therapy (SFBT)
The solution-focused model has been applied in a wide variety of settings, including mental health centers, inpatient psychiatric units, chemical dependency centers, homeless shelters, child protective services, adolescent treatment facilities, HMOs and private practice.  Solution-focused brief therapy targets what works rather than what’s wrong. It is based on a non-pathology model that emphasizes the strengths and resources of client(s) in a collaborative effort to reach goals and resolve problems rapidly.
