College and Preschool Scholarships
College Scholarships
The Women's Club of East Granby awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors residing in East Granby in recognition of outstanding contributions. The number of scholarships and total amount given varies yearly and will be revealed at time of graduation. To be eligible for a scholarship, you must be an East Granby resident and have been accepted to an institute of higher learning. Applicants are evaluated on the areas of financial need, academic achievement, and extra-curricular activities, including service to school and/or community.
Please be sure to attach a copy of your transcript, list of extra-curricular activities, student resume, and list of honors received. Applications will be available at the East Granby Guidance Department in the spring. All applications are due back to EGHS Guidance Department by Thursday, May 28th at 2:00 p.m.
Please note all applications are reviewed without knowledge of the applicant's name or relation to present or former WCEG members.
Preschool Scholarships
The Women's Club of East Granby has allocated money raised from its annual fundraising activities to sponsor pre-school scholarships for East Granby residents who want to send their child to preschool but are financially unable to do so.
The mission of the WCEG scholarship program is to help give the children of our community access to the valuable and enriching experience of quality education. Through helping a financially needy family send their child to an area preschool, WCEG makes a valuable commitment to serving the community.
To apply for a preschool scholarship, simply contact the director of the area preschool where you wish to send your child. They will help you complete the application and forward it to our scholarship committee chairperson. Scholarship money is available on a first-come-first-served basis for tuition at area not-for-profit preschools as well as for-profit preschools. There are caps and eligibility criteria that apply. See the application for more information. The WCEG reserves the right to increase or decrease the amount of scholarship based on any special circumstances presented. Ideally, a WCEG preschool scholarship is not meant to fully fund a student's tuition but instead to supplement the tuition after parents have exhausted all other means of scholarship (e.g., through the school directly or other community organizations) and/or their own personal resources.
