New parental leave policy for OHSU graduate students
April 29, 2013
After months of deliberation, discussion and drafting, the Women in Science OHSU and OHSU Graduate Council have developed a new and improved parental accomodation policy for all graduate students. New parents are now eligible for 8 weeks of paid parental leave. This is a major accomplishment! Everyone who has been involved (including both WIS and OHSU faculty members) in this process have worked very hard to get to this point, and we thank them. Nearly all the faculty members we discussed this issue with were very supportive of our proposed changes to the existing policy. Dr. Allison Fryer has been especially invaluable during this process was kind enough to make time in her busy schedule to offer us her extensive experience and expertise to help make this updated policy the best it could be.
