Services Offered by the Department of Health  

There are many local organizations that serve pregnant women and new parents and their children.  The Forsyth County Department of Public Health offers a variety of services- not only during the childbearing year but also for families and children. 

If you plan on having your baby at Forsyth Hospital, be sure to go on a free tour of the maternity floors. If you have questions about breastfeeding, you can call their lactation consultant. They also offer other classes and services for before and after the baby is born. 

If you have any problems breastfeeding, La Leche League can help! Before you get frustrated and quite, call them for advice and consider attending one of their monthly meetings. 

The Wee Care Shoppe, run by Catholic Services, can help with clothes and care items for babies and young children (en Espanol).

Meet other moms, listen to educational speakers, and get support at the  Welcome Baby Group's monthly meetings.
