About Us

Formed in 1975 Wolfstar Archers is a field archery club affiliated to the Scottish Field Archery Association [SFAA], which in turn is a national affiliate of the International Field Archery Association [IFAA], the international governing body promoting the sport of field archery.

The Club, one of the largest and most successful field archery clubs in Scotland, draws members mainly from Edinburgh and the Lothians and boasts a number of current and former international and national champions among its ranks, as well as some top coaches, but we are not an elitist club and we welcome archers of all abilities, from novices to champions aged 9 to 90.

Field archery is normally carried out on a course set in woodland over either a 14 or 28 target unit, shot at distances  from 20ft to 80 yards.

Wolfstar maintains its own 14 target field archery course, open all year round, for this purpose in woodland  near East Linton in the garden county of East Lothian, Scotland.

There is an active SFAA tournament circuit from April through to November each year at various courses across Scotland and Wolfstar members are active and competitive participants.

Newbattle Community Learning Centre in Midlothian is used as the Club’s main indoor training venue and for introducing beginners to the sport prior to shooting outdoors.

Regular practice is carried out on Friday nights between 7.30 and 9.30 from September through to May with at least one coach always on hand to offer advice and guidance on form and equipment.

In addition more experienced archers meet on Monday nights to hone their skills and to participate in the Winter League and Club Indoor Championship.
