Since their formation by Ruth Holleley in 2006, Women of Note have performed their close harmony repertoire of swing and jazz standards at venues ranging from Oxford’s Holywell Music Room and Old Fire Station Theatre, to RAF Brize Norton and the Armourers’ Hall in London. Women of Note perform at charity concerts, summer fêtes, private parties, fund-raising events, corporate events, etc.

The group has been featured on BBC Radio Oxford and BBC South Today, as well as
winning the ensemble class at the Oxford Music Festival. Women of Note's repertoire contains a selection of accompanied and unaccompanied numbers from the Great American Songbook, by such greats as George & Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Kern & Hammerstein. Some of the songs have been specially arranged for them by Nia Williams, who also arranges traditional Christmas Carols to unorthodox swinging levels!

What people say of us...

"
Just an e-mail to say thank you again for your wonderful performances yesterday.  Your audience thoroughly enjoyed the evening from start to finish and many of them were talking enthusiastically about it at church again this morning.  If having a good piano means that we can host concerts such as yours, then it will have been worth every bit of fund-raising and effort. You lifted our spirits and sent us home with smiles on our faces – as well as helping substantially to pay off our remaining piano debt. Thank you so much. I am full of admiration for your talents and hope you will come again."
- Glynne Butt, St Michael's Church, Abingdon -

"Just wanted to say huge congrats to YOU ALL for a first rate 'busk' in the Abbey this afternoon.  Just delightful. I thought it was a great programme; well chosen, slick and sung with conviction, style and panache. Altogether a most polished and professional performance and your blend, balance and intonation would put many 'big names' to shame! Thanks for giving us all a real afternoon treat and WELL DONE!"

"Musical Banquet really enjoyed Monday's WoN concert. The ensemble and blend were really very impressive: you were all really enjoying yourselves.  A class act!
