Interested in rowing for William and Mary?
We'd love to have you on our team!

General Information
The William and Mary Rowing Club is a very competitive program that races against other club and varsity teams from both the east coast, and from around the country. We train five days a week throughout the year, on the water in the fall and the spring, and indoors on 'ergs' in the winter. We also have a mandatory training trip over spring break, as well as an optional week long winter break training trip. As a club team, we are largely self-funded through rower dues and individual fundraising.  Also, as we are a club team, there are no scholarships available for W&M rowers. However, that has not stopped us from beating scholarship athletes from other schools at regattas!

No previous experience is required!
Although a number of rowers on our team rowed previously in high school, the majority of our team learned how to row at William and Mary. At the beginning of each semester we have a Learn-To-Row program for all inexperienced rowers/coxswains, which involves a few weeks of learning the basics of rowing, starting indoors on the ergs, and then going out on the water in mixed lineups with the varsity. During this period, no permanent commitment is made for the novice. Once Learn-To-Row is over, new rowers can decide whether they wish to continue with the team, and if so, they become responsible for the team's dues and fundraising expectations, as well as attendance to practices and regattas for the remainder of the year.

Prospective/Incoming Students
If you are interested in rowing or coxing, please keep the following in mind:  When scheduling classes, it would be ideal to have class begin 9am or later and end before 5pm.
Also, though we do not have scholarships to offer, our coach is happy to meet with prospective student-athletes interested in attending William and Mary. In the past, our Head Coach has written letters of recommendation for prospective student-athletes after meeting and talking with them on campus.  If you are interested in scheduling such a meeting, contact Coach Mitchell at his email address --
