Wallasey Historical Society

Wallasey Historical Society was set up in 1969 by Eric Irving, then Wallasey’s Chief Librarian. Its objects are to stimulate and encourage the study of the History of Wallasey and District by means of discussions, lectures and research.

The Society organises a lively annual series of talks and visits, details of which are given below. In 2010, the Society, in association with Wirral Borough Council, published a book entitled ‘Hopps Around Wallasey’, an annotated selection of paintings of old Wallasey by local artist Harold Hopps (1879-1963), which is available from Wallasey Central Library.

The Society has a current membership of around 150. New members are always welcome at any of the meetings. The annual subscription is £5.  For further information contact Terry Edgar 0151 638 9075, terryedgar@hotmail.com

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month, from September to March, at Wallasey Central Library, Earlston Road, commencing at 7.30 pm.
