39 - Feathers

Day/Time: Friday 8:30 a.m.
Teacher:  Sariah Mortensen

Skill Level: Intermediate
Finished Size:  63" x 73" Pattern
48" x 48" - I made mine smaller than the pattern because it was for a baby.
Pattern Fee:  $9.00

Description:
These darling little birdies are NOT paper pieced!  The piecing requires an accurate 1/4" seam.  The wing does have an odd angle in the piecing to give it a cute shape, but I will show you how you can do it!  I made my sample using a 1/2 layer cake, for the baby size.  The pattern calls for a layer cake, but a jelly roll would work, too.  Honestly, I think I might love it even more if I dug through my stash and made it scrappier.  The finished quilt has 30 bird blocks.  For the baby quilt size, you only need 16 blocks.
