Tough Mudder - August

Just to get the ball rolling, I am proud to announce that I will be taking part in Tough Mudder - Yorkshire again this year. Last years event was a life changing experience that saw me drop 4 stone in weight over a 5 month period, training with some friends in Sweden, running from Guiseley to Leeds via the canal as well as attempting to keep up with the Insanity Workout and its cruel trainer - Shaun T (he's the man but I hate him!)

Tough Mudder is 12 mile assault course that is built up of approximately 20 obstacles. Included are obstacles like the:
"Artic Enema" - a plunge pool of ice water which requires you to be full submerged to clear the partition in the middle.
"Everest" which is a monumental Quarter Pipe that you have to run up. Not only is it impressive by size, last year it was the 3rd to last obstacle which made it even harder to clear after being tortured throughout the course for the past 2 hours. And lastly there is the
"Electric Shock Therapy" which was the final obstacle standing between the Mudder and the finishing line, a danger zone of electrically charged wires, some were not charged but others were - some up to 10,000 volts. Believe me when I say it's not easy to run through.

This year I will be hoping to build from where I left off last year, although truth be told , I think ive taken a step backwards and will have a lot of work to do in order to be ready for this years event. Last year saw me raise over £700 for St. Gemmas Hospice and I am hoping to to do the same again this year, if not even better!

More updates will follow as the training becomes more severe and the time draws near.
