Swimmers ready! Welcome Coach Trey Taunton as Windermere Swim Coach.
Coach Trey Taunton has been in and around the water his whole life. He began swimming club teams at a very young age. He continued to swim all through school and was a state qualifier on his high school varsity swim team. He attended college at Oklahoma State University where he joined their water polo team. He graduated there with a degree in Physical Education, and has since completed certificates in Special Education. He also received his Masters Degree in School Counseling from the University of Central Oklahoma.
His coaching career started in 2008 when he began coaching with the Mid Del Public schools in Central Oklahoma. He led the team to several top 3 finishes in their conference. From 2008 to 2015 Trey coached a club swim team currently known as American Energy Swim Club. There he coached with current and former Olympic athletes and National Championship level coaches. His last coaching stop in Oklahoma was with the Moore High School Varsity Swim Team, where he had the challenge and opportunity to turn the swim program around. His swimmers broke many school, district, and conference records, with many top finishers at state. The team grew from 8 members to 50 under his leadership.
In 2015 Coach Taunton and his family relocated to the central Florida area. He has been the Leesburg High School Head Swim Coach and the Leesburg Titans Club Head Coach for the last 2 years.
Beginning this summer Coach T. will be coaching at the National Training Center in Clermont and is excited to start the new Wolverines swimming and diving teams as well as the Water Polo team.
