Linda Boot’s Bio…
Mrs. Linda Boot has been teaching Choral Music in Orange County for many years and is thrilled to be the first director for the Wolverine Choral Music Department at Windermere High School. Mrs. Boot has a BA in Music Education from Dordt College (Sioux Center, IA) and a Masters in Conducting Performance from the University of South Florida (Tampa, FL) where she was a student of the acclaimed conductor Robert Summer. As a vocalist, Mrs. Boot performed with the Gold Coast Opera Company and the EPCOT “Voices of Liberty”. She also held Soprano Section leader and Chancel Choir Director positions in numerous churches. Mrs. Boot’s choirs always receive top ratings at music festivals and assessments. Her choirs have performed in Carnegie Hall, The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, and the EPCOT Candlelight Processional (as an Honor Choir since its inception). Her students also perform in the Florida All-State Choirs and ACDA (Florida and Southern Division) and All-County Honor Choirs. This past December her students went “Caroling in the Capitol” and performed in Washington D.C. Mrs. Boot also takes her students on annual college performance trips where they perform and workshop with university professors. Her students have performed at Vanderbilt, The University of Georgia, The University of South Carolina, The University of Florida, Stetson and The University of Central Florida. Mrs. Boot is a member of the Florida Vocal Association and was on the board for 5 years as the Music Committee Chair and she is a member of the American Choral Directors Association where she held the position of Treasurer and Vocal Jazz Repertoire and Standards Chair. Mrs. Boot is in demand as a university supervising teacher and has mentored over 25 music interns. Mrs. Boot’s goal as the Choral Director for WHS will be to provide exceptional music experiences for her students which will help them achieve their educational, professional and personal goals and to enrich the lives of the student body and community through the great art of music. Mrs. Boot is a new resident of Winter Garden where she lives with her husband Ron and their two adorable boxers, Robinson and Laila.
