Windermere High School is proud to introduce Eric Lassiter as its first Baseball Coach! Coach Lassiter comes to us from Apopka High School. He is a graduate of Apopka High School and went on to Davis and Elkins College. While at Davis and Elkins the school experienced its best 4 year period in school history. As a pitcher, Coach Lassiter held the record for most appearances in a career and was a 2 time team captain. Upon graduation, he became the pitching coach at West Virginia Wesleyan College where he help oversee a conference record 21 game winning streak, recruited over 80 student athletes, coached 4 all conference pitchers, 2 all-region, and 1 all-American.
Coach Lassiter’s first head high school baseball position was at Tavares for the 2011 season where the school had its first winning season in 3 years. The following season saw Coach Lassiter return to his alma mater to begin what would be very successful 6 year stint in one of the toughest baseball regions in the state of Florida. During his stay at Apopka he compiled a 114-44 record, averaging 19 wins a season. Highlights included district runner-up finishes in 2013 and 2014, an appearance in the elite 8 in the 2014 state playoffs, district champions in 2015 that included being spring break champions, and 2016’s district runner-up and 23-6 record that was a school best record since 2004. In addition, his 2014 and 2015 teams both beat what was the number one team in the nation at the time.
Coach Lassiter was named the Metro Conference Coach of The Year in 2014 and 2015.
