Emergency Data card needed for EVERY student during marching band season.

We are very excited to introduce our Band Director Rob Darragh to Windermere High School.

Mr. Darragh grew up in The Colony Texas and attended Marcus High School and The Colony High School. He started playing tuba at the age of 12 and has been involved in music ever since. He has had many years of experience teaching middle school, high school and college level bands. In high school, He served as drum major and was in both All-Region and All-State bands for multiple years. After high school, he studied music education at the University of Texas. Mr. Darragh served as a Marine Corps ordnance man in the Marines, and eventually went on to play in the Marine Corps band. He has performed all over the world for both US and foreign dignitaries and special events such as performing for the Queen and King of Spain and President Clinton along with President Bush. After the marines, he enlisted in the Air Force and did flight-line munitions operations as part of multiple fighter wings serving and supporting many combat and non-combat contingencies around the world. He finished up his music performance and education degrees and went on to complete his master's degree in music as a graduate teaching assistant at Colorado State University. His bands have ranked every year in state marching competition and have had superior ratings at many other competitions, to include sweeping every category at the University of Wyoming Invitational and Greeley Invitational marching contest. Mr. Darragh's indoor drumline won their first WGI indoor competition and ranked 4th in the state their first year of competition. In 2016, he participated in the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, doing the opening ceremonies, parade and a solo performance in front of the USS Missouri battleship. His band won best band at the event beating out 14 others from around the nation that went to Hawaii. He has built a very well respected athletic band, and has had many other schools offer to "rent his band" for the playoffs and state competitions. He was also part of the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle corps, traveling to Taiwan with the corps for a landmark overseas performance with Taiwanese Drum and Bugle corps and joining the corps again for the opening ceremonies of the world ski cup championships in Vail, Colorado. Mr. Darragh currently serves in the Army National Guard as a Military Performance Team leader and conductor.

When not playing or conducting an ensemble, he enjoys scuba diving, practicing tuba, and practices various martial arts (holds a third degree black belt). He is often referred to as "High Speed", and always moves 100 mph. He is married to Lynsey Darragh and has 3 sons. Lynsey holds a Bachelor's degree in percussion performance and is involved in teaching a percussion studio. Nikolas, the oldest son, is currently a C-17, C-5 crew chief in the Air Force. The middle son, Robin, was an all-state tuba player in high school and is now serving as a helicopter crewman in the 82nd Airborne division, Fort Braggs, N.C. The youngest Kris, will be a sophomore trombone player at Windermere High School. The Darragh family is looking forward to moving back to Florida and building an awesome new band family at WHS.
