Winchester Morris Men

The Winchester Morris Men were formed on 11th March 1953 in the Eclipse Inn, The Square, Winchester, by, amongst others, Lionel Bacon M.D.  So this side is the most local of all performing at the MayFest.

Their dances and style of costume reflect those seen in the Cotswolds during the nineteenth century. They dance at variety of local functions and at a number of public houses, mainly during the summer, and often travel further afield to other sides' events. They have danced in France, the Netherlands, Washington DC (with Foggy Bottom Morris Men) and even on the Isle of Wight, for those members with the requisite visas!
