State Champions

The following young ladies have captured MHSAA (Michigan High School Athletic Association) state titles for Williamston High School.
Over the years, Williamston has competed in state sanctioned state meets in Class C-D, Class C, Class B and Divisions 3 and 2 over the years.
Every spring the MHSAA re-evaulates the sizes of the schools and sets classification for the following year. Until the mid 1990's the classification changes took place after January 1st but that was changed, so it coincided with the school year. In the old class divisions (A,B,C,D) all schools were placed in a class for all sports. About ten years ago, the MHSAA switched to the division system which divided schools playing the sport into nearly equal divisions, as opposed to all schools in the state. As a result, depending on the number of teams that are offered at high schools around the state, you could have the same high school being in three different divisions for state titles. As track and field has historically been a high participation sport in Michigan the divisions total about 150 schools. Currently, we are in Divisions 2, which equates to small Class A schools and big to medium size Class B schools.
