Not much is known of my grgrgrandparents William and Mary Moore and their family. Tracing the Moore family in the Tuscaloosa and Fayette Counties of Alabama leads me to believe that they arrived possibly in the 1830's in New Lexington, Tuscaloosa County before settling in in the Berry, Alabama township.  Allied families of Baines, Willingham, Jeffrey, Roberts and Moore worshiped in Salem Baptist Church in New Lexington, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama 1824 -1895 before moving to Mississippi and then on to Texas.

William Moore's will dated 28 November 1871 is recorded in the Fayette County, Alabama Court House.

There were numerous land grants in Fayette County dating 1858 and earlier for William and his son John S. and a relation John A. Moore.

William Moore's son Thomas Jefferson Moore born 1810 in Laurens County, South Carolina was living in  Tuscaloosa County, Alabama in the 1850 Federal Census before moving to Guadalupe County, Texas. He and his family are in the 1860,1870 and 1880 Federal Census's of that county. Some of Thomas's children married into the Jeffrey, McMahan and Roberts family in Texas.
